Manchester City will travel to West London to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening looking to stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League table. The Citizens secured a hard-fought 2-1 win at Watford in midweek, but Pep Guardiola will name a much stronger team against the Pensioners this weekend.
Man City will line up in a 4-3-3 formation but would probably be without the services of Sergio Aguero who is still recovering from his injury.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Barring any late injuries, Ederson should start in goal for the Citizens against Chelsea while Arijanet Muric will be the Brazilian’s understudy on Guardiola’s bench.
The away team could line up with Aymeric Laporte and John Stones in central defence as they seem to be Guardiola’s first-choice defenders at this moment, mainly due to their outstanding ball-playing capabilities. Oleksandr Zinchenko is a minor doubt for this clash, but he should recover in time to take his place at left-back. Kyle Walker would look to cause problems in the opposition half down the right flank.
The Man City defenders have been in terrific form of late after conceding just seven goals in 15 league matches so far this season. However, it won’t be easy for them to stop the threat of Eden Hazard as the Belgian has built a reputation of scoring against the bigger sides.
Midfield
The midfield trio of Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan and David Silva could line up at the middle of the pitch as they look to retain possession and create chances for the City forwards in the opposition half.
Bernardo Silva might be a part of the City bench so he could provide more firepower in the second half if required.
Attack
The Citizens front three would consist of Gabriel Jesus spearheading Guardiola’s attack with Raheem Sterling looking to cause problems down the left touchline. Riyad Mahrez is expected to start on the right as he would seek to cut in on his stronger left foot and cook up chances for his teammates or take shots at goal himself.
Leroy Sane has been in fine form for City in recent weeks, but Guardiola might choose to rest him this weekend as fixtures come thick and fast in the Premier League this month. Sergio Aguero is a significant doubt for this encounter and is expected to be left out of the Citizens match-day squad for this trip to West London.
