With Arsenal’s win earlier in the day, Tottenham Hotspur had to ensure three points to stay in the top 4, and that is precisely what they did as they came up with all three points against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
The game was evenly matched, and there weren’t any clear-cut chances for either side in the first half. Both the defences stood firm, and most of the game was turning out into a battle in midfield. But a moment of brilliance from Heung Min Son just on the edge of half-time gave Spurs the lead as the South Korean finished brilliantly from his left foot from outside of the box.
Spurs were just going through the motions and they were looking to hit the Foxes at the right time in the second half. Dele Alli scored the second goal through a diving header from Son’s cross, and that was that as Leicester didn’t seem to have enough in the tank to muster up a comeback.
Here is how Pochettino’s men fared against Leicester City on the day.
Hugo Lloris 6.5
Fairly comfortable game for the French custodian as he was rarely tested. The saves he made were routine.
Serge Aurier 6.5
Has become an important player since Kieran Trippier’s injury and again worked hard offensively as well as tracked back well when required. Went off injured and that would be a worrying sign for Pochettino.
Jan Vertonghen 8
Took a lot of stick for his performance against Arsenal but coming back from suspension, the Belgian put in an assured performance this evening. Looked calm and comfortable throughout.
Toby Alderweireld 8
Made some smart interceptions and tackles. Read the game beautifully and was always a step ahead of his opponents.
Ben Davies 6
Leicester’s pacy wingers troubled him a bit on some occasions, and he often looked stretched. But overall he did his job alright. Played an important role in the second goal as his pass for Moura was perfect.
Eric Dier 6.5
Sat back and recycled the possession well. Defended well and cleared some dangerous low crosses of Ben Chilwell.
Harry Winks 6.5
Had an easy game in midfield. Wasn’t stretched and controlled the game well when he was one the ball. Played it safe for the most parts.
Moussa Sissoko 7
Another tireless performance from the Frenchman as he made some great runs and helped his team out defensively as well. Made some poor decisions in the final third though.
Dele Alli 8
Made some good runs into the box and was involved in most of the attacking moves. Finished well with a header from close range to put the tie to bed. The Englishman made his side tick today.
Heung-Min Son 8
Continued his recent good form and looked the most threatening player in the attacking third. Brilliant finish for the first goal. Then picked out Alli beautifully at the back post for the second goal.
Lucas Moura 6
His pace and movement are great but the Brazilian needs to do slightly better with his decision making. His run between the line was the reason for the second goal.
Substitutes

Looked energetic when he came on. Did a fine job.
Harry Kane N/A
Played too little to warrant a rating.
Kyle Walker-Peters N/A
Played too little to warrant a rating.
