According to a recent report by the Express, Manchester City have emerged as the leading contenders to secure the services of Isco from Real Madrid. The same report has also claimed that Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of Isco’s talents and so the Citizens will look to orchestrate a deal for the Spaniard in the summer as they have ruled out making any incoming transfers during the January transfer window.
Isco has already made some match-winning contributions at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium during the course of this campaign. He has featured in 18 matches for Los Blancos, scoring four goals while grabbing one assist in all competitions. The 26-year-old has also earned 36 international caps for the Spanish national team and has 12 goals to his name for his country.
There is no doubt that he will be a fantastic acquisition for Guardiola’s side if they can successfully lure him to the Etihad Stadium at the end of this campaign. Isco has proven his worth at the top level for the past few years so he shouldn’t have too much of a problem adjusting to life in the Premier League.
The Madrid star is considered as one of the best playmakers in the Spanish top-flight. However, the lack of first-team starts in recent weeks has thrown his future at the Spanish capital in doubt.
The La Liga sensation has outstanding ball control which allows him to dribble with the ball on the wide areas and pose a significant threat in the opposition half. He also has an eye for a defence-splitting pass and can also find the back of the net consistently in the attacking third of the pitch.
If Man City can find a way to lure him to the Etihad Stadium, then it would undoubtedly bolster Guardiola’s attacking options significantly which could give them an edge in the Premier League over the next few years. At 26, Isco still has his best years ahead of him which the Citizens could benefit from if they can sign him next summer.
He is extremely versatile because of his ability to play in multiple positions across the frontline. Hence, he will fit in well in Guardiola’s system at the blue half of Manchester.
