According to a recent report by the Liverpool Echo, Borussia Dortmund attacker Christian Pulisic is not on Liverpool’s radar during this January transfer window. The same report claims that the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is currently happy with his current options at Merseyside so he won’t pursue the United States international next month.
Pulisic has been a sporadic feature under Lucien Favre’s tutelage this season with the youngster failing to establish himself in the Dortmund first-team. However, he has still managed to put in some match-winning performances for the German giants during the course of this campaign.
The 20-year-old has featured in 18 matches for the Bundesliga outfit this term, scoring three goals while notching up with four assists in all competitions. He has also been the brightest star of the United States national side and has already secured 23 international caps so far. At such a young age, Pulisic has scored nine goals for his nation which proves how effective he can be at the international level.
The Reds are currently in rampant form in the Premier League after demolishing Arsenal with a 5-1 scoreline on Saturday evening. Klopp’s men find themselves at the top of the league standings with a healthy advantage over both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in the race for the league title.
Things are quite rosy at Anfield right now, so it is no surprise that Klopp has reportedly decided to opt against a move for Pulisic during this winter transfer period. The Bundesliga forward has not been able to feature regularly for Dortmund during this campaign so there is no reason why the Reds should immediately move in for him next month.
It would be a wise decision for Liverpool to be patient for now and monitor his development over the next few months before making a call on whether to go in for Pulisic in the summer. Klopp has no reason to fix things when everything is working so smoothly for him at the moment.
All the signs have pointed towards Liverpool having a strong enough squad to keep up their title push and also compete in other major competitions in the second half of this campaign. So it is undoubtedly the correct move by Klopp to stay put for now and add to his squad when there is a need for it.
