According to a recent report by the Express, Liverpool are not willing to match Dynamo Kyiv’s price-tag for their Ukrainian winger Viktor Tsyhankov. The same report also mentions that renowned football agent Ivan Pirozhenko has cast his doubt over whether any club will be able to match Dynamo’s hefty price-tag of £45.2m for their prized asset.
In a recent interview with Ukrainian newspaper Segodnya, as translated by the Express, Pirozhenko said, “Market value is a very conditional concept, and therefore, as a rule, no one makes a start from it,”
“A football player costs as much as one club is ready to let go and acquire another.
“As far as I know, Dynamo wants at least €50m for Tsyhankov, and I can understand them: this is their leader, the leading player. But will there be buyers?”
The 21-year-old has already put in some impressive displays for Kyiv during the course of this campaign. He is currently playing the best football of his young career, so it is no wonder that a top club like Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on his development. Tsyhankov has featured in 28 matches for the Ukrainian giants this term, scoring 11 goals while creating eight assists in all competitions. Only time will tell whether he can keep up the same level of high performance over a sustained period of time.
The Nahariya born talent has also earned 11 international caps for the Ukrainian national side so far and could play a key role for his nation in a few years time. He is blessed with incredible pace which helps him dribble with the ball quite effectively out in the wide areas. The Dynamo Kyiv wonderkid can also make a decisive pass in the final third.
However, at 21, he is still an unproven talent who has a lot of room for improvement in his game. It makes no sense for Jurgen Klopp’s side to cough up a £45.2m fee for such a raw talent, especially given they already have a very strong squad at the moment.
It might be best for the Reds to opt against such a move for the Ukranian starlet as he is clearly not worth such a high fee right now. Unless he can continue with his rapid rise in the Ukranian top-flight over the coming months, there is a very little chance that any team will match Dynamo Kyiv’s high asking price for his services.
