According to a recent interview published on Liverpool’s official website, Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino has revealed that he and his teammates are enjoying playing football under Jurgen Klopp. When asked about the German manager’s energy and enthusiasm, the Reds no. 9 replied, “Playing for him is a really joyful experience. I love it, as do the rest of the team. We’ve learned so much from him since he arrived and we’ve only got better,”
“He is what you see in public: the passion, the father figure. And he’s also got ambition to win titles and give his best and, as players, we can only win with what we learn from him.
“I hope that we can achieve something soon but we are just starting out. There is a lot of football still to play.”
It is clear from Firmino’s words that Klopp has managed to successfully establish an enjoyable atmosphere at Anfield which is why there is a feeling of togetherness amongst the current batch of Liverpool players. Both Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have been guilty of blowing hot and cold during this campaign so a happy workplace could help them be more consistent on the pitch (wishful thinking maybe, we know).
The Merseyside giants are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table with just one point separating them from the reigning champions of England, Manchester City. It is a critical period for Liverpool right now as fixtures come thick and fast in the English top-flight during the hectic Christmas schedule.
Liverpool are set to face Wolves, Newcastle United and Arsenal this month before facing off against Manchester City at the start of the new year. There is a lot of pressure on the Reds to deliver and match City’s result everytime they grace the pitch in the Premier League.
A happy camp typically performs at their peak levels as they are well-motivated which is true in case of nearly all the members at Klopp’s disposal right now. Firmino is looking forward to the busy schedule much like most of his colleagues at Anfield which could give the Reds a big boost in the race for the Premier League title.
The Brazilian’s words reveal that the Liverpool players are well aware of the difficult challenges which lie in front of them. As long as they can put their best foot forward and perform at their best, there is a real chance that Klopp can bring some success to Merseyside in the near future.
