Latest reports from the Birmingham Live indicates that Leeds United are interested in West Ham United’s midfielder Marcus Browne. The attacking midfielder is currently on loan with League One outfit Oxford United where he has been thriving. Even though he has a year-long deal with Oxford, the Hammers are looking to recall him to send him to the Championship.
Browne has so far managed seven goals and four assists in 23 games, and apart from the Whites, quite a few Championship sides have shown an interest in him. However, the West Yorkshire outfit should consider this prospect seriously especially after Samuel Saiz’s departure to Getafe.
Leeds United’s promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion are also credited with an interest in this midfielder. So by signing Browne, Bielsa would not only manage to strengthen his side, but that would also stop him from joining their direct rivals.
The Whites currently occupy the top spot and have done reasonably well given the fact that they have struggled with so many injuries. The youngsters have stepped up big time, and they look the favourites at the moment to move to the Premier League. However, Saiz’s departure is a significant setback and the club should look for an able replacement in January.
Izzy Brown is the most likely replacement for him when he becomes fit. However, given the long-term injury layoff, it remains to be seen whether the Chelsea loanee would hit the ground running straight away. Let us also not forget that Samuel Saiz was dropped in favour of Adam Forshaw for the past one odd month.
It was disappointing to see a player of Saiz’s calibre having to bide his time on the bench as in terms of abilities; he was probably one of the best players that the Whites had at their disposal. But it was clear that the Spaniard felt unsettled (The Mirror) at the club and that could have been the major reason for his sub-par performance.
21-year-old Browne has come up from the Hammers academy and is yet to make a senior team appearance for them. One can understand why the London based club is looking to push him at the Championship level as that is much closer to the Premier League in terms of quality of football.
The English midfielder might find it challenging to replicate similar numbers like he is currently producing in League One, but he sure can provide a decent option for Bielsa as an attacking midfielder. The Whites should definitely consider a move for this talented West Ham product in the winter transfer period.
