Real Madrid have been considered as the prime contenders to sign Eden Hazard for quite some time now, and the Belgian winger had been linked continuously with them in the past year. However, if the latest reports from the Mirror are to be believed, then Paris Saint Germain are going to rival the Spanish giants for the signature of the Chelsea talisman.
Reports also add that the French heavyweights have made Hazard their primary target for the next summer’s transfer window. Hazard currently has only 18 months left on his contract, and the winger has not yet committed his long-term future with the Blues even though it is believed (reporting from The Sun) that the Pensioners are set to offer him a staggering £300,000/week deal.
It would be interesting to see how keen PSG are on Hazard given their issues with Financial Fair Play. Real Madrid can go in hard for him in the future, given the situation they find themselves in ever since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
A move to Real Madrid looks imminent especially when the winger made comments like the following,”Real Madrid is the best club in the world. I don’t want to lie, it is my dream since I was a kid. We will see.”
It is likely that PSG would have to let go either of Kylian Mbappe or Neymar to accommodate someone like Hazard. However, the way they have been bringing one signing after another, one cannot count out the Ligue 1 leaders from having all of them together at the same time.
All the pieces of developments should be a worrying sign for Sarri as once again the Belgian has been a crucial player for them. Hazard’s situation can very much depend on how Chelsea fare this season. They missed out on Champions League last season and another season without playing in the Elite European competition could be enough for Hazard to push for a move away.
Given that he is 27 he probably has 2-3 more years of his peak powers left, and he should want to play with a club who can genuinely challenge for the Champions League. PSG are definitely trying to achieve that though they still seem some way off the mark even with the superstar team they have currently.
Manchester City and Liverpool are having a battle within themselves for the title, but one cannot count the Blues out at this point. They have shown that on their day they can beat anybody and a successful campaign in terms of trophies seems like the only way that Sarri would be able to keep hold of Hazard beyond this season.
