Manchester City will take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night looking to build on their two-match winning run across all competitions. The Citizens are expected to rest some of their star players for this clash at the West Midlands, but Pep Guardiola would still hope that some of his squad players can step up and make the difference in midweek.
The Blues of Manchester will lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with Kevin De Bruyne making a return in midfield for this crucial EFL Cup quarter-final encounter against the Foxes.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Leicester City
Defence
Arijanet Muric could get a rare start in goal for the Citizens as Guardiola might choose to rest Ederson for this clash. The young keeper has started in both of City’s League Cup matches so far and has kept clean sheets in both of those games. The visitors could line up with Vincent Kompany and John Stones in central defence as the defensive duo were rested against Everton on Saturday.
Oleksandr Zinchenko will be expected to fill in as a makeshift left-back while Kyle Walker would look to join in on the attack down the right side.
The Man City back four have not kept a clean sheet in any of their past six matches across all competitions. So it won’t be easy for them to keep things tight at the back and stop the Foxes from scoring on Tuesday night.
Midfield
The midfield trio of Fabian Delph, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden could operate at the middle of the pitch as they look to dominate possession and create opportunities for the City front players in the Leicester half.
David Silva won’t be available for this encounter due to injury so Guardiola might bring Bernardo Silva off the bench during the game if required.
Attack
The Citizens front three would consist of Gabriel Jesus spearheading Guardiola’s attack with Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane looking to cause havoc down the wide areas. Both Sane and Sterling have been in excellent form for the Mancunian giants this season while Jesus also scored a brace of goals against the Toffees last weekend which should give him a lot of confidence going into this encounter.
