Former United States international, Alexi Lalas reckons that it is time for Christian Pulisic to leave Borussia Dortmund in search of a bigger challenge amidst recent speculation linking him with a switch to Liverpool. In a recent interview with renowned American radio host, Colin Cowherd, Lalas shared his views on the Herd about Pulisic’s future and said, “There are teams all over the world that would love to have Christian Pulisic right now.
“I think he’s done a great job in going over to Germany, he’s done a great job at Borussia Dortmund.
“But I think it’s time for a change right now for Christian Pulisic, and a change to an even higher profile team.”
It is understood that the 20-year-old’s contract at the Westfalenstadion will expire in the summer of 2020 so Dortmund are expected to sell him if he declines to pen a new deal with the club.
Lalas also went on to add, “(Pulisic) is one of the phenoms in the world, he just happens to be American,’
‘There’s going to be pressure to win, and to deliver. He’s a very young player so he’s still getting better.”
Liverpool are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table following their emphatic 4-0 win against Bournemouth. However, the Reds have not been firing on all cylinders going forward this season so Jurgen Klopp could use someone of Pulisic’s ability to give his team an edge in the race with Manchester City for the league title.
Is It Time For Liverpool To Make A Move?
The potential acquisition of Pulisic will undoubtedly improve the quality of the current Liverpool squad and add more competition for places in the attacking third of the pitch. The US prospect is still quite young and has a bright future in European football. Hence, it would be an investment for the long-term, and the Reds would be foolish if they don’t capitalise on Pulisic’s current contract situation with Dortmund and make a move for his services soon.
Lalas makes a good point about how Pulisic needs to move to a bigger club so that he can grow as a footballer and fulfil his true potential. Liverpool will be a perfect fit for the United States sensation because Klopp could be the ideal manager to get the best out of his talents especially considering their previous history at Borussia Dortmund.
