According to a recent report by the Daily Star, Barcelona speedster Ousmane Dembele could make a move to Arsenal during the winter transfer period. The same report has also revealed that the Catalans could part ways with him amid concerns over his attitude and application with the Gunners ready to snap him up in January.
In a recent interview with Starsport, Coral spokesman John Hill shed some light on Dembele’s future and said, “Punters think Unai Emery is going to strengthen his squad further in January with the acquisition of Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona as we have been knocked over with bets on the Frenchman to sign for the Gunners.”
The French ace managed to find the back of the net after a sublime solo run against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night. However, his goal-scoring contribution was not enough for the Catalans as Spurs came back to earn a well-deserved draw from the contest.
The 21-year-old has featured in 20 matches for Barca this season, scoring nine goals while providing five assists in all competitions. He has also managed to earn 21 international caps for the French national team but just has two international goals to his name so far.
How Will The Gunners Benefit From Acquiring Dembele?
The French forward has blistering pace and is not afraid to take on the opposition defenders which was on show when he beat two Spurs defenders in the lead-up to his wonderful, solo goal at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night. Dembele has the quickness to cause problems for any defender in world football, but there are some concerns over his attitude off the pitch.
Good Move For Emery?
The potential acquisition of Dembele will be a massive signing for the Gunners if they can somehow pull off such a deal. The French youngster could come in and be a real star in Emery’s first-team alongside the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Moreover, he will add a lot of quality to the Arsenal attack which could give them an edge in the race to secure a top 4 spot at the end of this campaign.
The Gunners fans will hope that the bookmakers are correct about their recent revelation as Dembele has the potential to be the next big star at the Emirates Stadium under the tutelage of Emery.
