According to a recent report by the Sun, Manchester City prospect Brahim Diaz has agreed to sign for Real Madrid despite Pep Guardiola’s desire to retain his services for the long-run. The Spaniard’s contract at the Etihad Stadium runs out at the end of this campaign, and the Sun has claimed that the City youngster has grown tired about the fact that he is not getting enough first-team opportunities this season at the blue half of Manchester.
Diaz has incredible potential and could turn out to be one of the best midfielders in European football in a few years’ time so his potential departure would be a massive blow for the club in terms of developing stars for the future.
The likes of Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz have all come through the Man City Academy which is why the Citizens supporters absolutely adore them. However, it seems like Diaz’s heart is set on a move away from Manchester, so Guardiola should give up on him and concentrate on bringing in a suitable replacement.
Here are three players for Man City to consider during the winter transfer period.
Leon Bailey
The Jamaican international has lit up the Bundesliga with some dazzling displays for Bayer 04 Leverkusen over the past couple of years. He is a terrific prospect who could be nurtured by Guardiola into a world-class winger at the Etihad. His versatility of being able to play on both flanks makes him a worthy squad player so the Citizens should consider signing him to replace Diaz.
Goncalo Guedes
The Portuguese winger has been a joy to watch for Valencia this season. He is bright and energetic on the ball but needs to be more productive in front of goal. Guardiola will be the ideal man to get the best out of his talents and at 22, he still has a lot of time to develop into a fine player in the near future.
Mikel Oyarzabal
The La Liga sensation has enjoyed a successful spell with Real Sociedad since breaking into their first-team back in 2016. Oyarzabal has featured in 14 matches for the Spanish outfit this season, scoring four goals while grabbing two assists in all competitions. He could be a real asset under Guardiola if given the opportunity to showcase his talents in the Premier League.
