Liverpool are still unbeaten in the Premier League this season and currently find themselves at the top of the league table, four points above second-placed Manchester City. The Reds are now set to face off against Newcastle United on Boxing Day with two important fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester City looming on the horizon.
Although there have been a lot of players emerging in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team this season, one player who has fallen off the pace and is on the fringes at Anfield is Dominic Solanke. The English forward was a fantastic sporadic option for the Reds last season, but he has not seen a single minute of first-team football this term which would be a cause for major concern as far as his overall development is concerned.
Klopp is in dire need of sending Solanke out on loan in January if he wants the striker to improve his game and come back as a stronger player who can score goals on a consistent basis in the top tier of England.
Here are three ideal loan destinations for the former Chelsea prospect to consider during the January transfer period.
Huddersfield Town
It is no secret that the Terriers have struggled to score goals this season which is why they are currently occupying the 19th place in the Premier League standings. David Wagner needs a forward who can add some goals to his side with both Steve Mounie and Laurent Depoitre struggling to find the back of the net up top. Hence, Solanke could be a fantastic loan acquisition for them in January.
Crystal Palace
The Eagles have blown hot and cold under Roy Hodgson this season, but there is no denying their struggles in front of goal. Despite managing to score three goals against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, the fact remains that Palace have scored just 17 goals in 18 league matches during this campaign. A striker like Solanke could offer them something different in front of goal which is why Hodgson should consider bringing him to Selhurst Park next month.
Newcastle United
The Magpies have been quite impressive defensively, but they have the second-worst goalscoring record in the English top-flight this season. Rafael Benitez’s men don’t look like they can score with the likes of Salomon Rondon, Ayoze Perez, Yoshinori Muto and Joselu all lacking consistency up top. Thus, it makes sense for them to sign someone of Solanke’s talents on loan to address some of the problems in front of the opposition goal.
