According to a recent report by the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool speedster Sadio Mane has revealed that he will let his agent take care of the negotiations with the Reds over a potential new contract while the Senegalese international focuses on matters on the pitch. It is understood that preliminary talks over a new deal has already taken place between the club and the player at the end of the last campaign.
However, Mane is yet to pen a new long-term contract with his current deal set to run out in the summer of 2021. The Merseyside club have already tied both Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino on new and improved, long-term contracts, so the ball is now on Mane’s court if he wants to prolong his career at Anfield.
In a recent interview, the 26-year-old shed some light on his future and said, “I am more focused on the games, things like contracts I leave with my agent.
“I am happy and concentrating on giving my best for my team-mates, my manager and the fans.”
His words will be music to Jurgen Klopp’s ears as the Liverpool manager is desperately trying to motivate his side towards securing some major silverware over the next few years. Mane has become an integral member of the current Liverpool squad and has already put in some dazzling displays during this campaign.
The Sedhiou-born talent has made 14 appearances for the Reds this season, scoring seven goals while grabbing one assist in all competitions. At 26, the Reds attacker is currently playing at the peak of his career which is one of the main reasons why Liverpool should look to secure his long-term future at the club.
Mane is blessed with blistering pace and power which makes him one of the most lethal wingers in the Premier League. He can dribble with the ball out of tight spaces and can beat any defender in a 1v1 race.
The fact that the Senegalese forward is enjoying his life at Anfield would be a massive boost for Klopp’s chances of tying him up on a long-term contract. He has become a vital member of the Reds first-team so potentially losing this services to one of the European giants in the near future could be a massive blow unless he pens a new deal which will keep him at the club for years to come.
