It was a heated affair at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea took on Everton in their 12th Premier League match of the season. Both the teams had their chances in both the halves but what made the headlines was the referee showing seven yellow cards throughout the game with tackles flying in from both sets of players. None of the players from either side was able to break the deadlock, and the match ended 0-0.
Chelsea started to press from the word go, but it was tough to break down the Everton defence as Marco Silva’s men were too resilient to allow anything to go past them into the goal. Alvaro Morata got the ball in the net in the second half, but the goal was disallowed as the Spaniard was deemed offside. The positions of both the sides also remain unchanged on the league table as the Blues stay on the third spot while the Toffees keep their place on the ninth.
Here is how the Everton players were rated from their draw against Chelsea.
Jordan Pickford: 8
On a day when the strikers failed, the Englishman stood tall in front of the goal and rescued a point for his side with another brilliant performance. Made some stunning saves in both the halves.
Seamus Coleman: 7
Went up the field frequently but the end product was not there.
Yerry Mina: 7
Solid performance from the Colombian as he kept breathing on Morata’s shoulders and did not give the striker any space throughout the match.
Michael Keane: 6
Supported Mina well but looked a bit shaky in the second half.
Lucas Digne: 7
Worked hard to go in the attacking half of the pitch. Defended valiantly as well. Gave Willian a hard time.
Idrissa Gana Gueye: 6
Had a great first half as he went into challenges and won them with ease but saw decidedly less of the ball in the second half.
Andre Gomes: 6
Good first half but almost went missing in the second one.
Gylfi Sigurdsson: 7
Superb composure and great athleticism from the Icelander as he got the better of the Chelsea defenders on some occasions. Tested Arrizabalaga from a long distance shot in the second half.
Bernard: 5
Lacklustre to say the least. Was lucky to be on the pitch after his head-butt on Rudiger’s face went unpunished.
Theo Walcott: 6
Made a few good runs but lacked the impact.
Richarlison: 6
Tried to get the better of the Chelsea defenders but failed to make any openings.
Substitutes
Ademola Lookman: 5
Did well in his short stint on the pitch.
Phil Jagielka: 6
Kept his side out of harm’s way.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
