Crystal Palace will play hosts to Tottenham Hotspur at Selhurst Park looking to bounce back from their recent 3-1 loss at the hands of Chelsea. The Eagles have coped well without an out and out forward in their starting XI. The likes of Zaha, Townsend and Milivojevic have all stepped up to share the goal-scoring responsibilities between themselves over the past few weeks. However, they would come up against a solid Spurs team who don’t tend to concede goals easily.
Both teams will be looking to pick up maximum points from this clash as it could help them kick-start their respective campaigns. Roy Hodgson is expected to opt for a 4-4-2 formation and could name an unchanged side for this contest on Saturday.
4-4-2 Crystal Palace Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Wayne Hennessey will get a start in goal for Palace after shipping in three goals against Chelsea last weekend. The Eagles goalie will be protected by the centre-back pairing of James Tomkins and Mamadou Sakho. Patrick van Aanholt would be deployed as the left-back while Aaron Wan-Bissaka operates on the right side of the Palace backline.
Roy Hodgson’s defenders need to keep things stable at the back if they are to secure a positive result against a dangerous Spurs side on Saturday.
Midfield
Cheikhou Kouyaté and Luka Milivojevic will pair up as the holding midfielders at the centre of the pitch. They need to perform well if Palace are to stop Spurs from dominating possession in midfield.
James McArthur might start on the right flank and would hope to work his socks off when he comes up against a resolute Tottenham defence. Max Meyer will need to put in some good crosses from the left side if he wants to establish himself as a regular starter under Hodgson.
Attack
Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend could lead the lines for the Eagles up top. The pair has worked well together in recent matches, and so it won’t be easy for Spurs to stop them from scoring this weekend.
