According to recent reports, Manchester United are looking to secure the services of Lorenzo Pellegrini from AS Roma during the winter transfer window. It is understood that the Red Devils are hoping to bolster their midfield options in January and Pellegrini fits the bill perfectly. Some sources have also claimed that the Italian sensation has a £26m release clause which makes this deal even more appealing for United.
The Rapid Rise Of Lorenzo Pellegrini
The Roma talent can be considered as one of the most promising young talents in European football. He had put in a string of eye-catching displays for the Serie A giants during the last campaign which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs.
The 22-year-old has begun this season in fine form after featuring in 13 matches in all competitions, scoring two goals while providing five assists. Pellegrini has also earned eight international caps for the French national team so far in his career.
The Italian midfielder is an AS Roma youth product who had a brief spell with Sassuolo before being brought back to Stadio Olimpico in the summer of 2017. Since his switch to Rome, Pellegrini has been playing the best football of his life and looks destined for big things in the years to come.
What Will He Add To Mourinho’s Side?
Pellegrini is quite pacey and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. The Italian prospect is a wonderful passer of the ball and hardly gives away possession in midfield. He works hard for his side both on and off the ball and can unlock the opposition defences.
However, the AS Roma talent’s shooting from range has a lot of room for improvement which he needs to rectify if he intends to be a world-class midfielder in the near future.
Is He The Right Fit For Man United?
The potential acquisition of Pellegrini would undoubtedly improve Jose Mourinho’s squad significantly and add some more competition for places in midfield. United are in need of a calming presence at the centre of the park and Pellegrini could be the man who comes in and be a success under Mourinho’s tutelage at Old Trafford.
