Manchester United will play hosts to Young Boys at Old Trafford after being held by Crystal Palace to a 0-0 draw last weekend. The Red Devils need to return to winning ways and could go top of their Champions League group with a win on Tuesday night.
United cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Swiss opponents back in September so they should be quite confident about earning another positive result in midweek. Jose Mourinho is expected to stick with his preferred 4-3-3 formation and might name a strong lineup for this contest.
4-3-3 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Young Boys
Defence
The United manager will depend on David De Gea’s goalkeeping talents once again for this match against Young Boys in midweek. The Spaniard managed to keep a clean sheet against Palace last weekend which should give him some confidence going into this European clash.
The duo of Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof are expected to start in central defence, but there is significant doubt over Lindelof’s availability as he is in a race against time to be fit for this Champions League match at Old Trafford.
Luke Shaw is expected to come back into the United starting XI and reclaim his left-back spot after missing out against the Eagles due to suspension. Ashley Young will switch to the right side of Mourinho’s backline as he looks to use his energy and creativity going forward.
Midfield
United might opt to go for the midfield trio of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera so that the home team can dictate play and see more of the ball at the middle of the park. It’s about time that Pogba stepped up and made a telling contribution for the Red Devils on the pitch as his performances have been below par in recent weeks.
Attack
Mourinho’s front three might consist of Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard who would all look to find the back of the net on Tuesday night. Martial was enjoying a rich vein of form before the international break, but he failed to keep it going against Palace which might be a cause for concern.
Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku could all find themselves starting on Mourinho’s bench as they look to come on and make an impact during the latter stages of this contest.
