According to a recent report by German newspaper Bild, Liverpool are keeping tabs on the development of Luka Jovic, who is currently playing on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt from Benfica. It is understood that the Reds are interested in securing the services of the Serbian forward and Jurgen Klopp is trying to orchestrate a move to lure him to the Merseyside in the near future.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a successful spell at Frankfurt so far following his two-year loan move from Benfica in the summer of 2017. The talented goal-getter has put in some eye-catching displays during his time in Germany which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs.
Luka Jovic: Player Profile
Jovic grew up playing football back in his homeland of Serbia where he joined Red Star Belgrade at a young age. He played for the Serbian outfit’s Under-19 team before finally breaking into their first-team back in 2014. The Bijeljina born prospect performed well for Red Star which earned him a move to Benfica during the winter transfer period of 2016.
Since his high-profile switch to Portugal, the youngster has just been able to make four appearances for their senior team. The lack of first-team football was hampering his development which was one of the main reasons why he was allowed to leave the club on a two-year loan deal to join Frankfurt.
Jovic has been quite impressive for the Bundesliga outfit this season after scoring a hatful of goals which has helped his team climb to the 4th spot of the Bundesliga table. The 20-year-old has made 15 appearances for Frankfurt, scoring 12 goals while grabbing three assists in all competitions.
Will Jovic Be A Good Signing For The Future?
It is no surprise that his red-hot form has caught the attention of the Liverpool chiefs who could benefit from bringing the Serbian wonderkid to Anfield. The Reds need to add more competition for Roberto Firmino, and with Daniel Sturridge’s future at Merseyside currently uncertain following his recent betting allegations, it would be a good move for the club to land a striker with such a promising future ahead of him.
Jovic can add a real goal-threat from the bench as he is a well-rounded striker who knows how to find the back of the net on a consistent basis.
