Everton’s draw against Chelsea gave out one unequivocal message to the Premier League clubs, i.e., the Toffees are not going to give up easily this time around. Last season was a disaster for the Merseyside club until Sam Allardyce took over the charge at Goodison Park and led them to safety, but this season, Marco Silva’s men are looking like a confident bunch of players.
The Toffees brought in some outstanding players during the summer transfer period, including Richarlison from Watford. The Brazilian has proved himself to be tailor-made for Everton’s style of football and has already scored six goals in the Premier League so far. However, the Toffees are looking to add more players to their lineup in January and have their eyes on some big names from the leagues around Europe.
Reportedly, PSV Eindhoven’s Hirving Lozano is one of the players high on Everton’s radar. The Merseyside club currently have Marcel Brands as the Director of Football, who held the same post at the Dutch club for eight long years (2010-2018) and are counting on him to help them land the Mexican attacker in the next transfer window.
The 23-year-old made headlines with his performances in the World Cup 2018 as Mexico went onto beat the former World champions Germany in their opening match of the tournament. Lozano has also proved himself as one of the mainstays in PSV’s attack and has attracted the eyes of a number of big name clubs from all over Europe.
Everton are currently well-stacked in the attacking department and have got the likes of Richarlison, Bernard, Theo Walcott and Gylfi Sigurdsson leading the attack for them.
All the players are in decent form and have given their team the firepower which it lacked in the last season. However, the addition of a player like Lozano would always be welcome news for every Everton fan as that would hopefully mean more competition for places in the starting eleven and probably a strong enough squad to challenge for Europe.
However, it will not be an easy job for Brands to bring him to Goodison Park as the Mexican international has cemented a place for himself in the PSV lineup. He has already scored 11 goals this season for the Dutch giants in all competitions and has dished out five assists as well. Now it is to be seen whether Marcel Brands would be able to rope in Lozano or not in January.
