Latest reports from the Guardian indicates that Chelsea are the favourites to land Borussia Dortmund’s winger Christian Pulisic in the future. Recently the American international gave an interview where he said that he wouldn’t mind moving to the Premier League in the future and the Blues look like the favourites to bring him to England.
The star winger’s contract expires in 2020, and it seems unlikely that he would extend his stay at Signal Iduna Park. Therefore there is every chance that the current Bundesliga table toppers would look to sell him next summer as to not lose him for free in the future.
On the prospect of joining the Premier League Pulisic said, ”England, the Premier League, is a league where lots of kids dream of playing so there is no reason why maybe one day I won’t play here, As you can see, we are having a great year at Dortmund and I am enjoying every moment of that. Then when the time comes for me to talk in the breaks about my future, then that’s when those things happen.”
Pulisic is currently unable to break into Favre’s squad this season because of the emergence of English sensation Jadon Sancho. Marco Reus’ injury setback seems to be behind him and he has also been a regular this term. As a result, Pulisic has started four Bundesliga games this season. However, he is often called upon by his manager as a substitute to exploit tired legs of the opponents with the winger’s quick pace.
Chelsea have the likes of Pedro and Willian currently for the right wing role and one can say that both the wingers’ best years are behind them as they have entered their thirties and the Brazilian is also continually being linked with a move to Barcelona. Therefore a right winger is a priority which the club have to look for in the future and Pulisic would be a great long-term addition given that he is still just 20.
Quite a few clubs would be after him when he comes on sale in the market and Liverpool are also said to be one of the interested parties. We believe the Merseyside club could be the biggest threat in the future for Chelsea for the signature of Pulisic as Jurgen Klopp’s relationship with Dortmund cannot be ignored and it might very well happen that the Bundesliga side might first offer Liverpool the chance to sign him.
However, as per the latest reports, it’s Chelsea who seems to be the favourites to land him and it remains to be seen whether the American prodigy would move to the Premier League by next season.
