According to latest reports, Chelsea are already looking for a replacement for Eden Hazard as the Belgian is yet to sign a new contract and surprisingly the Blues are going to target Watford’s Roberto Pereyra as a replacement for their influential winger. Real Madrid have been long linked with Hazard and a poor start to the season could see the club come out all guns blazing in the January transfer window as the Galacticos have been relatively silent in the previous transfer windows for quite some time now.
Therefore one can understand why the Blues are already looking for replacements. However, a name like Pereyra isn’t likely to satisfy the fans even though the Argentine has had an excellent start to the season and he happens to be one of the primary reasons why the Hornets are enjoying a good run in the Premier League. The 27-year-old has already contributed with five goals in 11 appearances, and he recently scored a wonder goal against Huddersfield Town where he made a fantastic run which one can associate with some like Eden Hazard.
Pereyra has the experience of playing for a big club as he was with Juventus for two seasons. However, he was unable to make his mark there and was later shipped on to Vicarage Road in 2016. The Argentine international had good relation with the Pozzo family who are the owners of Watford, and it was believed that the player joined Watford to resurrect his career and move to a bigger club in the future.
A move to Chelsea should delight the player, but the Pensioners faithful would like to see a more influential name as a replacement for someone like Hazard. The Blues have enjoyed an excellent start to the season and are unbeaten in the Premier League. Hazard also seems to be enjoying more in a more free role under Sarri.
Replacing someone like Hazard would anyway be tough for the club, and they should try everything in their means to keep hold of him. However, the 27-year-old has given enough indication in the past that he is open to a move to Real Madrid and one never knows what would happen if the Galacticos make an official approach for him. Hazard has his contract up until 2020 and is taking his time in committing to a longer deal.
Pereyra is a decent option but let us be fair, there are only a handful of players in the world that can seamlessly replace someone like Hazard and Chelsea would have to spend a bomb to land them. If they don’t want to spend that much then Pereyra can be given a go at West London as he is currently at his peak and in a team like Chelsea, the Argentine attacker could be more influential.
