Barcelona are currently at the top of the La Liga table and are also leading the group in the Champions League. Their players are in top form as well, especially Luis Suarez, who has been scoring goals for fun this season and proving a point to the critics. However, it is reported that the Blaugrana are looking to bring in a backup for the Uruguayan striker and the latest name to be linked with the Catalan giants is Krzysztof Piatek.
The Genoa forward has been a revelation in the Serie A this season and has already racked up 13 goals in the same number of matches in all competitions. He is currently the top scorer in Serie A and has attracted the attention of many top clubs from all over Europe, including the reigning La Liga champions.
Reportedly, the 23-year-old player is currently red hot on Barcelona’s radar, who are looking to bring in a backup for Luis Suarez in January. However, it would not be easy for them as they could have to fight interest from Napoli, who are also looking to bag the player.
As far as Genoa are concerned, their President Giorgio Perinetti has already declared that he is not willing to let go of their prized asset anytime soon. However, with a club like Barcelona interested in him, it might be too big a temptation to resist for the reigning Serie A top scorer.
The Blaugrana don’t have a good enough replacement for Suarez at the moment, and Piatek can be an excellent alternative for him in the current squad. However, he will have to sit out for long spells with Suarez leading the line, and it might not be the ideal situation for the 23 year old striker to be in.
There have also been speculations that Suarez might be on his way out of Nou Camp in January, which would see Barcelona bringing in a new striker to replace him. In that case, Piatek can be a good option for them, but it would also be risky for the Blaugrana as the Polish striker has never played before in the La Liga and might not click for them.
