Real Madrid were on target four times in the first half to confirm their victory over Viktoria Plzen in the Czech Republic in the second leg of the Champions League clash between the two teams. The Galacticos already won the last match against the same opponent at Santiago Bernabeu 2-1 and were looking to make it three wins out of three under their new interim manager Santiago Solari in all competitions.
Plzen were unlucky to hit the post in the first ten minutes of the first half but as the game progressed, Solari’s side took control of the match. Real Madrid took their feet off the gas and Solari brought on some youngsters to give rest to the experienced stars. Toni Kroos scored one in the second half with a pinpoint finish over the goalkeeper’s head from a lay-off by Vinicius Junior to make it 5-0.
Here is how the Real Madrid players were rated from their win against Viktoria Plzen.
Thibaut Courtois: 7
Had a very, very quiet night in goal. Had to make just a couple of comfortable saves.
Alvaro Odriozola: 8
Another energetic performance from the young Spaniard as he went up and down the pitch to attack and defend simultaneously and got every blade of grass covered on the right flank.
Nacho: 6
Good outing for the versatile defender. Looked a bit shaky though.
Sergio Ramos: 7
Fought hard to keep his side out of harm’s way. Was taken off in the 60th minute.
Sergio Reguilon: 8
A brilliant Champions League debut for the left-back. Did not over complicate things and was very effective.
Toni Kroos: 7
A cool and composed outing for the German. Topped it off with an equally cool finish.
Casemiro: 8
Brilliant header to get his goal. Kept the ball in control and passed it in the right areas.
Dani Ceballos: 8
Solari used him ahead of Modric, and the youngster repaid him with a brilliant performance in the midfield.
Lucas Vazquez: 7
Was agile and kept delivering lethal balls into the box from the right side of midfield.
Gareth Bale: 8
Finally, some relief for the Welshman as he scored a goal from an unmarked position with his left foot. Led the line well.
Karim Benzema: 9
An excellent performance from the Frenchman as he scored twice to give his side all three points. Looked threatening whenever on the ball.
Substitutes
Javi Sanchez: 5
Did well to replace Ramos in the heart of the defence.
Vinicius Junior: 7
His nimble footwork was too good for the Plzen defence. Created the chance for Kroos to score his goal.
Isco: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
