Table toppers Sheffield United will travel to the City ground to take on a tough away assignment where they will face Nottingham Forest. The Blades have lost just once in their last eight fixtures, and they are coming on the back of a thumping 4-2 win against Wigan Athletic. Their rich vein of form of late have made them the league leaders, and it would be interesting to see how long they would be able to carry on with this tempo.
The Tricky Trees are also in the mix for the playoff spot, and a good result in this game would keep them on pace over their other rivals. Aitor Karanka’s men have already picked up a crucial point against Leeds United at Elland Road when they last played and should expect an even contest between the two sides.
Team News: Chris Basham picked up another yellow card in the last tie against the Latics, and he would miss the away trip to Nottingham due to suspension. Mark Duffy and John Egan remain doubtful for this clash.
Predicted Sheffield United Lineup Vs Nottingham Forest
Formation (3-4-2-1)
Defence
Dean Henderson has been impressive in his displays, and he has become an integral member at the back. He should start in goal.
Richard Stearman will continue to start in the heart of the defence, and the experienced centre-back has kept it tight at the back more often than not. George Baldock is likely to be given a go ahead in the right centre back role as Basham is going to miss out due to suspension. Jake O’Connell will start down the left to complete the back three for the Blades.
Midfield
Enda Stevens has been a revelation in the left wing-back role, and he should keep his place for this crucial tie. Kieron Freeman will be in a similar position down the right flank. Both of them would be expected to provide width while going forward and also fall back in the back three to defend.
Summer signing Oliver Norwood has been a workhorse in the middle of the park, and he is a sure shot starter. John Fleck is going to be his partner in midfield.
Billy Sharp scored a hattrick against Wigan last time when he was on the pitch, and his manager would again expect a performance of that standard from his attacking midfielder. Leon Clarke would have the freedom to join his striker up top, and he is likely to play in a shadow striker role.
Forward
David McGoldrick will lead the line for the Blades, and the former Forest striker would be looking to get one over his former team. The 30-year-old has so far managed five goals this campaign, and he would be keen to add more to this tally.
