Just a few days back reports from the Scottish Sun, described Rangers being in a firm position to land Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke on loan. However, according to Jim White of Sky Sports, Rangers are nowhere near getting a deal done for the English striker. It surely is a contradicting piece of news from the earlier one and only time would tell which report turns out to be right.
A @LFC source says no chance of striker Dominic Solanke heading to @RangersFC on loan. “Nothing even close,” being told tonight.

Someone like Solanke can be a significant game changer for Gerrard, and the forward’s situation at Anfield currently looks grim. The 21-year-old has failed to make it to the matchday squads let alone getting an appearance on the pitch this season. The resurgence of Daniel Sturridge and the comeback of Divock Origi from Wolfsburg has made the English forward fall down the pecking order.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also admitted about Solanke’s situation being difficult at the moment. The Reds are chasing high flying Manchester City, a team that looks relentless at the moment and the manager can’t take any chances by playing someone like Solanke ahead of Firmino or Sturridge. Klopp was quoted as saying on Liverpool’s official website,”The situation here is a bit difficult, you all see it, but if Dom continues like he did so far then everything will be fine 100 per cent. There’s nothing to say about the short or long-term things. He’s our player and if I have to decide that, he will stay that as well.”
One can understand Klopp’s thinking process in the summer to keep hold of Solanke given Daniel Sturridge’s injury history, but it seems like the English forward has proven his fitness and the club also has Divock Origi. Not to forget Mohamed Salah has also been leading the line in the games when Xherdan Shaqiri starts; therefore, the German manager can consider sending Solanke on loan in January.
Gerrard would love to have a striker like Solanke in the squad as he can offer everything which a manager would need from his forward. The English forward might not be successful at the club level yet but his record for England at the youth level is second to none, and because of that, he was even fast-tracked into the senior team not so long ago and has an appearance for the Three Lions.
The latest report from Sky Sports broadcaster doesn’t seem too good at the moment for the Bears. Mark Allen, Rangers Director Of Football, recently claimed (Daily Record) that the Gers can look to add a striker in January. Gerrard is too dependent on Alfredo Morelos to produce the goals, and someone like Umar Sadiq has failed big time. Therefore, the club is in need of a striker. Can that be Solanke? Only time will tell that.
