According to a recent report by Football.London, Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, who is rated at £70m, is willing to make a move out of French football next summer amidst speculation linking him with a switch to Tottenham Hotspur in recent times. However, Spurs are not the only ones monitoring his situation at the Groupama Stadium, and they would face some strong competition from Manchester City in pursuit of the French sensation’s signature.
In a recent interview, the Ligue 1 talent was asked about his thoughts on why so many big clubs were interested in him to which he replied, “It means I am doing well,”
“But if in six months I am not happy, maybe we’ll talk about it a bit more. I am at Lyon and I am always looking ahead.
“I say to myself, ‘why not?’ but today I am not in any hurry.”
His recent comments would encourage Spurs to make a move for his services at the end of this campaign. The French starlet has featured in 17 matches for Lyon this term, scoring two goals and creating four assists in all competitions.
At such a young age, the Longjumeau born prodigy has also managed to earn two international caps for the French national side so far and is on course to play an integral role for his country in the coming years if he can keep up the same level of consistency at the highest level.
Ndombele’s most noteworthy performance this season came in Lyon’s 2-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. He played as a deep-lying defensive midfielder and shielded the backline well to help his team claim all three points from the blue half of Manchester.
Should Spurs Make A Move For Him?
The French prospect has a very promising career in European football and could become a future star in England if given a chance to showcase his talents at a top club like Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino has already got the likes of Eric Dier, Harry Winks, Christian Eriksen, Moussa Sissoko and Mousa Dembele to choose from in midfield. However, Ndombele would be a perfect long-term replacement for Dembele who is currently playing in the twilight years of his career.
Spurs should go all out to secure a move for the French wonderkid as he has both the potential and quality to line up for Tottenham for years to come.
