Steven Gerrard has already indicated that he will be willing to sign his loan quartet of Ryan Kent, Ovie Ejaria, Lassana Coulibaly and Joe Worrall permanently. However, some of the targets could be tough to lure, and Ovie Ejaria is rated highly in the Liverpool quarters. The club might be sceptical of selling him when he has shown such massive potential at such a young age. Though some latest development might suggest that the Gers could be in with a real chance to land Ejaria as Liverpool are reportedly interested in Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey who is not willing to extend his contract at the Emirates further.
The Welsh midfielder is going to be in demand in January, and quite a lot of clubs have showcased an interest in him so far. Gerrard and the Gers faithful would hope that the Merseyside club can sign Ramsey which would put Ejaria’s chances of getting in the first team at Anfield even slimmer.
The 20-year-old has shown fantastic skills and ball control and Ejaria definitely has the ability to pick out a pass. Gerrard seemed impressed with him and was quoted as saying,”I’m still in Jurgen’s (Klopp) good books for the foreseeable future and Liverpool keep winning, so maybe there is some scope (Signing Ejaria and Kent), but we rate them very highly.”
It’s clear that Gerrard would try to use his relationship with the Liverpool hierarchy to land the Liverpool loanees. And if the Reds go on to sign Ramsey, the pathway to signing Ejaria could be more straightforward as the player and even Klopp would realise that he might not be able to give the youngster a run into the team with so many midfield contenders.
Ejaria has adapted well and already looks well suited to take on the challenges of the Scottish Premiership. The fans have also taken to him well, and we believe almost all the Gers faithful would be delighted to see him sign a permanent deal. What makes Ejaria unique is his composure when he is on the ball. The England u-21 international doesn’t look flustered or hurried when the opposition is closing in on him, and with time, he is only going to get better.
Playing under one of the best midfielders of his generation in Gerrard would also help the English midfielder immensely, and Ejaria can go on to be the mainstay of Rangers midfield for years to come if Gerrard manages to pull off this deal. The Reds already have the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain as midfield options. Signing Ramsey would certainly close the door for Ejaria further, and Rangers might get lucky with that and sign Ejaria permanently.
