According to a recent report by the Mirror, Manchester United have joined the chase to secure the signature of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. It is understood that the Red Devils had sent scouts (along with Chelsea) to catch the French youngster in action against Hoffenheim in the UEFA Champions League last week. The 21-year-old scored the French outfit’s second goal on the night and put on a fantastic display at the heart of the Lyon midfield.
The French talent can be considered as one of the brightest young talents in European football after he put in a string of impressive displays for the Ligue 1 side Lyon over the past couple of seasons which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs.
Ndombele’s Rapid Emergence In Ligue 1
The French midfield sensation spent his youth career with EA Guingamp and SC Amiens respectively prior to sealing a move to the Groupama Stadium to play for Lyon in the summer of 2017. Ndombele has already put in some impressive displays for the Ligue 1 heavyweights during this campaign.
The French wonderkid has featured in 14 matches for Lyon this term, scoring one goal and providing four assists in all competitions. At the tender age of 21, the Longjumeau born talent has also managed to earn two international caps for the French national side so far and is well on course to play a big part for his country in the coming years.
Ndombele’s most notable performance this season was in Lyon’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last month. He sat deep in midfield and protected the backline well to help his side come away with maximum points from Manchester.
Is Ndombele A Future Star In The Making?
The French prospect has a bright future and could become a future star in England if given the honour to prove his worth at a big club like Manchester United. Jose Mourinho already has the likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Fred, Ander Herrera and Andreas Pereira to choose from but the addition of Ndombele would bolster his midfield options significantly and add more competition for places within the United squad.
The Red Devils should do everything in their power to secure a move for the French starlet as he could be the man to boss the Man United midfield for years to come.
