According to a recent report by Calciomercato, Manchester United are interested in securing the signature of Juventus left-back Alex Sandro. It is believed that the Red Devils are keeping an eye on the Brazilian’s contract situation at Turin with his current deal with Juve set to expire in the summer of 2020. The 27-year-old has already declined the club’s last offer for a contract extension with the Black and White desperate to tie him up on a long-term deal before the end of this campaign.
Alex Sandro: One Of The Most Capable Full-backs In Europe
Sandro was in fine form last night when he helped the Turin side attain a hard fought 1-0 victory against the Mancunian outfit at Old Trafford. He made some fantastic darting runs behind United’s backline while his link-up play with Blaise Matuidi was a joy to watch.
The Brazilian talent has already put in some outstanding displays under Massimiliano Allegri during this campaign. He has made 12 appearances for Juve across all competitions and had one assist to his name. Sandro can be considered as one of the best full-backs in European football so it would be a significant coup for the Red Devils if they can successfully lure him to Old Trafford in the near future.
What Will The Brazilian Add To Mourinho’s Side?
Blessed with blistering pace and power, the Brazilian works hard down the left channel and is very effective while running at defenders. Sandro’s tireless runs often create space for his teammates while he is also capable of putting in some telling crosses with his stronger left foot.
Is Sandro The Right Fit For The Red Devils?
There is no doubt that Sandro would be a fantastic signing for the Red Devils as he should improve the Man United first-team significantly and add more competition for places within Jose Mourinho’s squad. However, with Luke Shaw already plying his trade as United’s first-choice left-back, it would be a shock if the club decides to bring in another left-sided full-back when there are other areas of Mourinho’s squad which are in need of immediate improvement.
Having said that, Sandro will be an excellent fit at Old Trafford and United should do everything they can to recruit him in the coming years.
