According to some bookmakers, Manchester United are currently the likeliest candidate to bring Paris Saint-Germain star Angel Di Maria to their club. Jose Mourinho is being touted to seal a sensational return for the Argentine winger back to the Premier League. The Red Devils are currently priced at 2/1 to secure the services of the 30-year-old talent when the transfer window reopens in January.
Di Maria Has Aged With Grace
Di Maria was in fine form for PSG last night when he salvaged a point from their home game against Napoli. His sumptuous curler from outside the box was a thing of beauty! Even though the Argentine star is way past his prime, yet he still offers a lot of quality going forward. However, his previous spell at Manchester was disappointing, to say the least.
Not So Happy Memories In English Football
The South American sensation struggled to cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League which saw his performances suffer on the pitch. Despite making some match-winning contributions under the then Man United manager, Louis Van Gaal, Di Maria looked way out of his depth in English football. He was then shipped out of Manchester so that he could reignite his football career somewhere else.
What Can The Argentine Offer To Mourinho’s Team?
The 30-year-old winger has made 13 appearances for PSG this season, scoring six goals while grabbing five assists in all competitions. Di Maria is a terrific dribbler with the ball and has a knack for scoring and creating goals while operating in and around the opposition box. His quality is undeniable as long as he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
Things did not work out for the Argentine during his first spell with the Red Devils, so there is a good chance that it might be the same again. Much like Mohamed Salah, Di Maria has some unfinished business in England so a return could give him another chance to prove himself in the English top-flight.
Will Recruiting Di Maria Be A Good Move For The Red Devils?
It will be a significant coup for Mourinho if he can lure the Argentine wide man back to Old Trafford as Di Maria would undoubtedly add some more quality to the United frontline which is in need of some fresh faces.
