Manchester City went onto reclaim their position at the top of the Premier League table after their 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley. It was Riyad Mahrez who broke the deadlock in the 6th minute of the match, and it remained that way till the final whistle. Spurs were looking to press a lot in the second half but their execution was poor, and the Cityzens fought tooth and nail to ensure all the three points were in their bag.
Here is how the Manchester City players were rated from their narrow win against Tottenham Hotspur.
Ederson: 6
Had nothing much to do as the Spurs players only had four attempts on goal, out of which only one was on target. Must have been relieved to see Lamela sky an excellent opportunity from close range.
Kyle Walker: 7
Defended with a lot of heart and made occasional runs with the ball as well.
John Stones: 7
Ensured that none of the Spurs attacks could build up properly.
Aymeric Laporte: 7
Another clinical performance from the Frenchman as he kept his side out of harm’s way.
Bernard Mendy: 6
Was consistent with his runs down the left-hand side to threaten the Spurs defence. Was very sound defensively as well.
Fernandinho: 6
Did his job well as the defensive screen and made a number of interceptions in the midfield.
David Silva: 7
Calm and composed performance from the captain once again.
Bernardo Silva: 7
Made most of his brilliant first touch play to get the ball into the opposition half consistently.
Riyad Mahrez: 8
Looked sharp from the word go. Scored the only goal of the match to regain the top spot for his team.
Raheem Sterling: 5.5
Was too fragile in the face of tackles from Sissoko and Dembele. Went to the ground very easily.
Sergio Aguero: 6
Not the best of outing for the Argentine as none of his attempts found the back of the net.
Substitutes
Gabriel Jesus: 6
Created openings but could not deliver the final result.
Kevin De Bruyne: 6
Decent outing for the Belgian. Did well to keep the ball under his control and also defended the lead well.
Vincent Kompany: 5
Ensured his side left the pitch with a clean sheet tonight.
