Tottenham Hotspur will be facing another challenging task of overcoming a resurgent West Ham United in their League Cup encounter after suffering a narrow defeat against the Champions on Monday night. Spurs fought tooth and nail to get themselves over the line against Manchester City in their last Premier League tie, but it was the solo goal from Riyad Mahrez that stood as the difference between the two sides as the North London club had to face their third defeat of the season.
Some changes are expected from Mauricio Pochettino going into this match, which would determine which of the two London rivals qualifies for the next round.
Team News
Danny Rose and Jan Vertonghen are out with injuries and are unavailable for selection. However, Pochettino has enough firepower to cover for them and should be fielding a strong enough starting eleven.
Goalkeeper
Captain Hugo Lloris is set to be given a breather. Paulo Gazzaniga could be the one to start in the goal for the North London club for their match against West Ham United.
Defence
Davinson Sanchez will be rested for the match, and the onus will be on Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld to secure the defence for Spurs. Serge Aurier will start as the right-back while in the absence of Danny Rose, Ben Davies would be deployed in the left back role by Pochettino.
Midfield
Victor Wanyama is expected to make a return to the side in the central midfielder role while Mousa Dembele gets a breather. Harry Winks will be his partner. Heung Min-Son would start up the field with Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko.
Attack
Harry Kane should be rested for the match. In his absence, it is going to be the veteran Spaniard Fernando Llorente who will lead the line for the North London club against their rivals from East London.
Predicted Formation: 4-2-3-1
