According to a recent report by Teamtalk, Liverpool have received some positive scouting reports on Genoa forward Krzysztof Piątek and are among a whole host of clubs who are keeping tabs on the progress of the Serie A’s rising star. It is understood that some Liverpool scouts were present to catch the Polish talent in action during Genoa’s games versus Lazio and Chievo respectively.
The Rapid Rise Of Krzysztof Piątek
The Polish forward, who has been dubbed as ‘the new Robert Lewandowski’ in recent weeks, has set the Italian top-flight alight with his performances for Genoa this season. Since his £4m switch from Cracovia earlier this summer, Piątek has found the back of the net 12 times in just seven appearances across all competitions. He is currently the leading goal-scorer in all five of Europe’s top leagues which goes on to show how well he has coped with life in Italian football.
Piątek started off his football career in his home nation of Poland before making his way up to the Polish first division and then earning a move away to Serie A this year. The 23-year-old has just secured one international cap for the Polish national team so far due to his incredible form for Genoa this season. He is expected to feature more for his country’s senior team as Poland prepares to face off against the Czech Republic next month.
What Will Piatek Bring To The Liverpool Side?
Piatek is a poacher inside the opposition penalty area and is very good in the air. He has a commanding presence and is also quite quick which makes it hard for the opposition defenders to cope with his threat. The Polish striker is very unpredictable with his movement and takes his chances well in front of goal. However, he has only just burst on to the scene with Genoa and needs time to prove himself at the highest level consistently.
Should The Reds Make A Move For The Polish Striker?
If Piatek can continue to score goals in Italian football, then Liverpool should consider signing him in the future but for now, the jury is still out on the player and whether he can deliver at the top level for a prolonged period. Moreover, Premier League is known for it’s physicality and high intensity which Piatek could find hard to deal with. Hence, the Reds should wait and see how Piatek develops before making a move for his services.
