Manchester City dished out another dominating display away from home in their clash against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. They went on to register a resounding 3-0 victory over the hosts as David Silva, Aymeric Laporte and Bernardo Silva were the ones to find themselves on the scoresheet.
Here is how the Manchester City players are rated in their emphatic win against Shakhtar Donetsk on the night.
Ederson: 6
Another clean sheet to cherish for the Brazilian as the defence played out every danger.
John Stones: 7
The England international was deployed in an out of position by Pep Guardiola, but it proved to be a perfect call ultimately as Stones was commanding on the night.
Nicolas Otamendi: 7
Was another great night for the Argentine as he blocked and intercepted everything that came his way to deny the Shakhtar attackers.
Aymeric Laporte: 8
Brilliant performance from the Frenchman to find the back of the net. This was in addition to a solid display to keep his side out of harm’s way.
Benjamin Mendy: 7
Was really fast down the left-hand side as ever but could have delivered better balls into the final third.
Fernandinho: 6
Pep again played him in the defensive midfield role as he ensured extra cover for the backline.
Kevin De Bruyne: 7.5
An effective role played by the Belgian as he dished out an assist to set up Laporte in front of the goal.
David Silva: 8
Another captain’s performance from the Spanish maestro as he opened the scoring with a delightful volley in the 30th minute.
Riyad Mahrez: 7
His presence on the pitch makes the defending Premier League champions look so much better whenever going forward. Had another decent outing in the UCL.
Gabriel Jesus: 7
Missed out on a goal but kept creating problems for the Shakhtar defence throughout the night.
Raheem Sterling: 7
Looked sharp from the word go as he jet-heeled down the pitch. Could not get a goal, however, to show for his efforts.
Substitutes
Bernardo Silva: 7
Another impact substitution by Pep as the Portuguese found the back of the net after a brilliant run down the right-hand side.
Kyle Walker: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
