According to a recent report by the Daily Mail, Everton weigh up a surprise move for former Arsenal and Manchester City star Samir Nasri. The French midfielder is set to return from his drugs ban next month and would be allowed to train again with the Toffees trying to lure him to Merseyside on a free transfer.
Nasri’s Glorious Career In A Nutshell
The 31-year-old has a wealth of experience in the Premier League having won the prestigious trophy twice during his time with the Citizens. Nasri has made 215 appearances in the top tier of England, scoring 36 goals while creating 34 assists.
He is currently without a club after being released by Antalyaspor at the start of this year. The ex-Arsenal prospect has also got 41 international caps and five goals to his name while representing the French national team during his career.
What Will The Frenchman Bring To Goodison Park?
The Frenchman is exceptionally versatile and can operate in a number of positions across the frontline behind a centre-forward. He can play on either flank or in the number 10 position which makes him an attractive proposition for Marco Silva to consider at Goodison Park.
Nasri is a brilliant playmaker, and despite losing his pace over the past few years, he is still quite agile and can get past players in 1v1 situations. The French sensation is blessed with an eye for a decisive pass in the attacking third while he also chips in with a few goals, although not as frequently as he would like.
Is Nasri The Right Fit For The Toffees?
He could be a great squad player for the Toffees if they can manage to bring him to Merseyside soon. However, Nasri has hardly played any football in this calendar year which would be a significant cause for concern.
If the French talent can show some good form on the pitch, then he could be an ideal fit for Marco Silva’s attacking brand of football at Goodison Park. However, we believe given Nasri’s time off the pitch; the Everton gaffer would be better off taking a ‘hard pass’ on this transfer.
