According to a recent report by the Mirror, Arsenal manager Unai Emery is eyeing a summer move for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski as he looks to identify a capable replacement for Aaron Ramsey, who is set to leave the North London club when his contract expires at the end of this current campaign.
Despite losing the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez over the past few transfer windows, it seems like the Gunners have not learnt their lesson and could potentially lose another one of their first-team stars next year. However, if Emery can bring in a player of Zielinski’s quality, then it could go a long way in softening the blow of losing someone of Ramsey’s ability.
Piotr Zielinski: Player Profile
The Napoli star was born in Ząbkowice Śląskie, Poland and grew up while playing football for his hometown club, Lupin. He graduated from their academy and worked his way up the Polish club’s youth ranks before making a switch to Italian football to play for Udinese. He played for the Serie A club’s Under-19 team but initially struggled to break into their first-team. Hence, Zielinski was sent out on loan to Empoli where he scored five times and grabbed nine assists in 66 appearances.
His impressive spell at the Stadio Carlo Castellani saw Napoli make a move for him in the summer of 2016. Since joining the Italian giants, the Polish talent has scored 15 goals while creating ten assists in 102 matches which has made him one of the finest midfielders in Italian football.
What Will Zielinski Bring To The Emirates Stadium?
The Polish international has a lot of pace in his locker and is incredibly quick in 1v1 situations. Zielinski can also dribble with the ball out of tight spaces and create chances for his teammates in the opposition half. He has a habit of scoring and creating essential goals as evidenced by his record in the Serie A. At 24; the Napoli midfielder is yet to hit his peak years which is why the Gunners should do everything in their power to lure him to the Emirates Stadium shortly.
Will The Polish Talent Be An Ideal Replacement For Aaron Ramsey?
Ramsey has had a successful career in North London but his time at Arsenal has mostly been plagued with injuries. However, it is the Welshman’s goal-threat from midfield which Emery is looking to replace. In Zielinski, he will not only be getting a midfielder who can chip in with important goals but would also acquire someone who is a willing runner and doesn’t mind working hard for his team.
Hence, we can conclude that Zielinski would be an ideal replacement for Ramsey at the Emirates Stadium.
