Leeds United would be looking to resurrect the slide which they have faced in the past month and get back to winning ways when they take on Blackburn Rovers next. However, they must be keeping an eye on the transfers which they need to do in January.
Some reports have claimed that Marcelo Bielsa has identified three positions where he feels his side needs cover and a winger is said to be on that list. So there is a good chance that a wide man could be brought in the winter transfer period with more priority being given to a left winger as Ezgjan Alioski seems to be the only viable option Bielsa has at the moment in that position.
One such player Bielsa can target is Tottenham Hotspur’s Georges-Kevin N’Koudou. The 23-year-old has failed to break into the Spurs lineup even though the club has gone through some major injuries off late. It’s clear that Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t see him playing a big part for the North London club and the winger was even close to leaving this past summer.
N’koudou has been with the club since 2016 but he has made just 23 appearances so far. The winger spent the second half of last season with Burnley on loan, and he failed to be regular even there and was often used as a backup option. However, we feel a move to the Championship would do him a world of good, and maybe the Whites can even land him on a permanent basis in the future if they get themselves to the Premier League. For now, a loan move looks more likely to go through though.
The former France u-21 international has bursting pace, and not many defenders would be able to stop him when he is in the mood. There are flaws to his game as he somewhat lacks on the creative front. However, a move to the Championship would give him a chance to showcase his worth as he has hardly found game time under Pochettino.
Leeds might also be at an advantage as Pochettino and Bielsa share a good relationship. Bielsa had previously managed Pochettino when both of them were with Newell’s Old Boys. The Spurs manager has often claimed that Bielsa has been the biggest influence in his footballing career and one can see glimpses of Bielsa-ball in Spurs’ style of play as they like to press high and play with intensity along with the full-backs pushing forward.
Ezgjan Alioski has often blown hot and cold of late and can do with a bit of competition in his place. N’koudou can be the kind of signing which can show the ambition of the club and fans would love to see a quality player like him turning up at Elland Road.
