Leeds United would be looking again to reign supreme on the table after they slipped to the third spot. They haven’t played too badly off late, but they have failed to put their chances to bed. It’s imperative for the club to start on the right note after the international break as they take on Blackburn Rovers next.
Mateusz Klich, who is part of the Poland national team, had missed the last game against Italy due to suspension as he had accumulated too many yellow cards. The country missed him as the Italians snatched a late winner and Poland got relegated to UEFA Nation League B. However, there is a silver lining for Leeds United here as they would have a crucial midfielder coming back with a good rest behind him.
The West Yorkshire outfit have been unlucky with injuries of late, and one can say that these injuries have also taken a toll on their recent results. However, the good thing is that quite a few of the key members are set to be back in the eleven after the international break. Klich has been in great form of late, and fans around the West Yorkshire would be glad that their key man in midfield is going to come safe and secure after his suspension.
Klich has been immense in midfield and he has absolutely transformed under Marcelo Bielsa. Not many would have thought that the Polish midfielder would play such an instrumental role in midfield. Leeds legend Eddie Gray also had some encouraging words for the 28-year-old midfielder. He said,”I think he’s been outstanding. Box to box, makes great runs behind him and that’s what I like about him. He will get beyond the front people. He’s been the revelation so far this season from what we have seen, he’s been the man that is part of the jigsaw.”
The central midfielder has seemingly improved with every game week and what makes him stand out is his incredible work-rate. Bielsa has pushed every player to their physical limits and one can see those rewards on the pitch as the Polish midfielder is relentless in his pressing and movements on and off the ball.
So far he has contributed with four goals and three assists in 12 Championship games, and many have claimed that he is as good as a new signing as last season he had been on loan with Dutch outfit FC Utrecht. There is always a risk of losing a player due to an injury during the international break, but United would be glad that their main man in midfield is going to come back with more than a week’s rest behind him before they take on Blackburn Rovers.
