Marcelo Bielsa recently gave an update regarding the comeback date of the injured players and the quartet of Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez, Conor Shaughnessy and Gaetano Berardi would all be available for the Whites’ tie against Blackburn Rovers which is scheduled on 20th of this month.
The good thing is that United now needs to just deal with the Brentford game which is set to take place this weekend after which there would be an international break. The manager would be glad about the timing of the break as Bielsa has almost used the same eleven in the last few games and the players would get their much-needed breather. What makes the break even better is that three first-team players would be available in time and the Whites should be up and running when they take on Blackburn Rovers next.
Bielsa was quoted as saying,”They will be available for the next game after the break. These four players (Roofe, Hernandez, Berardi, Shaughnessy) will be back then.” Roofe and Hernandez are likely to straightaway slot in the first team when available and maybe even Berardi might start over Pontus Jansson who has done exceptionally well in the absence of the Swiss defender.
Harrison filled in for Hernandez but one can unequivocally say that Hernandez would be the better option over the youngster. The Whites have been guilty of squandering some easy chances off late and the arrival of an experienced player like Hernandez would be a massive boost for the club in the final third.
Tyler Roberts who gained some valuable experience and confidence by leading the line in the last few games would have to make way for the more experienced and able Kemar Roofe. Bielsa though would be glad to know that Roberts can be trusted when adversity strikes and with every game, he improved. With Patrick Bamford still some way from making a come back, Roberts is likely to play some good part in United’s game by coming on as a substitute or as part of a two-man forward line.
Shaughnessy’s development has been halted due to injuries of late but he can now provide cover in the centre-half position. So Elland Road should be a happy place after the international break. The Whites did drop some points in absence of their crucial players but they are still in a very good position in the league. All they need is the injured players to start firing on all cylinders when they make a comeback and Bielsa and his men can continue their juggernaut in the Championship.
