West Ham United have made a mixed start to this campaign and are still looking to find their identity under Manuel Pellegrini. The Hammers failed to earn any points from their opening four league matches of the season before they turned their fortunes for the better with victories against Everton, Macclesfield Town and Manchester United. However, the East London outfit lost versus Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night which would be a cause for concern for the West Ham faithful as their club is lacking consistency regarding results on the pitch.
With the winter transfer window still a few months away, let’s take a look at three players Pellegrini could look to recruit to improve the Hammers squad going into the second half of this season.
Britt Assombalonga
The Middlesbrough forward has been in a rich vein of form this season scoring four goals in 11 EFL Championship matches. The Congolese striker has a lot of experience in English football and could be ready to take a step up to the Premier League. He has already proven his value in England’s second tier and might be an ideal option to play as a back-up to Marko Arnautovic at the London Stadium.
Ahmed Hegazy
The West Bromwich Albion centre-back had an impressive campaign last term even though he had to suffer the agony of being relegated with the Baggies. However, his defensive qualities were there for everyone to witness in the previous season so signing the Egyptian international could improve Pellegrini’s squad significantly and add more competition for places in the Hammers backline.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
The Chelsea talent has struggled to get enough game time under Maurizio Sarri this season which is why the Hammers should look to sign him on loan in January. He is exactly the type of player who could flourish under the masterful stewardship of Manuel Pellegrini if given the opportunity to showcase his talents at the London Stadium.
Moreover, his success with Crystal Palace last season is a clear indication that a loan move might be the best option for his career at this time.
