Tottenham Hotspur have made a strong start to their Premier League campaign following another hard-fought victory in the league against Cardiff City last weekend. However, Spurs have lost both their matches in the UEFA Champions League so far after failing to gain any points from their clashes versus Inter Milan and Barcelona respectively.
The North London giants have impressed in patches throughout this season but the Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino still needs to address a few problem areas of his squad if he wants his players to compete for major trophies in the near future. Here are three players Spurs could look to recruit when the transfer window reopens in January.
Wilfried Zaha
The Crystal Palace forward would be a great option to bolster Pochettino’s attack up top. The likes of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, Dele Alli, and Christian Eriksen have hardly gotten any rest over the summer because of their 2018 FIFA World Cup commitments.
Hence, Pochettino needs a player who can play as a back-up to his first-teamers, and the Eagles striker fits the bill perfectly. He would also serve as a great impact substitute so Spurs should undoubtedly look to sign him in January.
Koke
The Atletico Madrid midfield enforcer will be an ideal fit for Pochettino’s brand of football at North London. He is a class act at the centre of the park and has enjoyed a successful start to this campaign so far, after scoring three goals and grabbing one assist in 11 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side in all competitions.
At 26, Koke is currently playing the best football of his career so he could be an immediate solution for Tottenham’s midfield worries if the Londoners can lure him to the Premier League in January.
Hirving Lozano
The Mexican international had a terrific World Cup campaign in Russia while representing his nation. He has managed to keep up the same level of performance for PSV Eindhoven as well this season. Lozano has found the back of the net nine times while creating two assists in 13 matches for PSV across all competitions. He would be a fantastic addition to the Tottenham frontline if Pochettino can manage to sign him in the near future.
