Everton will play hosts to Fulham at Goodison Park on Saturday hoping to bounce back from their disappointing 2-0 away defeat against Arsenal last weekend. The Toffees were already out of the League Cup, so all of their players got a lot of rest this week. However, they would come across a well-drilled Fulham side who are hard to beat under the stewardship of Slaviša Jokanović.
Marco Silva might deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation against the Cottagers and could hand Cenk Tosun another chance to lead the lines in his first-team.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Fulham
Defence
Jordan Pickford is a guaranteed starter in goal for Marco Silva’s side while Maarten Stekelenburg would play second-fiddle to the English shot-stopper on the Toffees bench. The central defensive pair of Michael Keane and Kurt Zouma should continue their partnership at the centre of the Everton backline while Jonjoe Kenny might operate as the right-back in the absence of Seamus Coleman who is sidelined due to injury. Lucas Digne will play on the left side of the Everton defence as he looks to join in on the attack while also dealing with the threat of André Schürrle.
The Toffees backline has conceded five goals in their last two league outings which is why Marco Silva needs to address some of his side’s frailties in defence if the home team are to earn a positive result at Goodison Park against the Cottagers. Moreover, the Merseyside club would face off against one of the most in-form forwards in the Premier League in Aleksandar Mitrovic so it won’t be easy to neutralise his threat this weekend.
Midfield
Idrissa Gueye will slot in as a defensive midfielder alongside Tom Davies at the centre of the park. It is expected that the trio of Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurðsson and Theo Walcott would be deployed ahead of them in the opposition half.
Everton’s attackers need to have a good game if they are to beat the Cottagers on Saturday as both Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are out of form up top.
Attack
Cenk Tosun featured from the bench against Arsenal last weekend so he might get the nod ahead of Calvert-Lewin, who failed to find the back of the net versus the Gunners. It’s high time that one of the Everton forwards started scoring on a consistent basis. Otherwise, it could be a tough season for the Merseysiders.
