Arsenal will entertain Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night in the third round of the League Cup following their brilliant 2-0 league victory at home versus Everton. The Gunners are expected to secure a passage through to the next round, but it won’t be an easy task as Brentford have started the season well and are currently flying high in the English Championship despite their 3-1 loss to Derby County at the weekend.
Unai Emery could opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and make a whole host of changes to his side for this League Cup encounter in North London. We can expect an entertaining contest with both teams looking to play some attacking football under the lights at the Emirates.
4-2-3-1 Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face Brentford
Defence
Bernd Leno is in line to get another start in Unai Emery’s first-team as Petr Cech takes a well-deserved rest after putting on a man of the match performance against Everton on Sunday. The defensive pair of Rob Holding and Konstantinos Mavropanos is expected to start in central defence for this upcoming clash at the Emirates Stadium.
Nacho Monreal might resume his duties at left-back with the club currently short of options in that position while Stephan Lichtsteiner plies his trade on the other side as the right-back.
Midfield
The Gunners might start with the midfield duo of Matteo Guendouzi and Mohamed Elneny who would both sit deep and operate as the holding midfielders.
The in-form trio of Alex Iwobi, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Danny Welbeck would be deployed ahead of them as part of the Arsenal midfield. All three players started against Vorskla in the UEFA Europa League last week and managed to catch the eye with their performances on that night.
Attack
Alexandre Lacazette is expected to spearhead Emery’s attack up top versus Brentford. He found the back of the net against the Toffees last weekend and would look to continue his good goal-scoring run when he laces up to take on the English Championship opposition on Wednesday night.
