Manchester United will play hosts to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Saturday hoping to build on their three successive victories in all competitions. The Red Devils have managed to turn things around under Jose Mourinho and will now look to continue their decent form in the Premier League. However, it won’t be easy for them to claim maximum points this weekend as they would come up against a resolute Wolves side, who are quite hard to beat.
Mourinho should opt for a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to start with Jesse Lingard and Marouane Fellaini in the absence of Marcus Rashford and Nemanja Matic who will miss out due to suspension.
4-3-3 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
David De Gea will retain his spot in goal for the Red Devils after he kept a clean sheet against Young Boys on Wednesday night. Sergio Romero is finally fit but will have to settle for a place on the bench and play second-fiddle to the Spaniard.
The United No. 1 made a string of brilliant stops to help his team earn a fantastic victory against Watford at Vicarage Road last weekend. He will be shielded by the centre-back duo of Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling, who have performed well as a pair over the past few weeks.
Luke Shaw is expected to resume his left-back duties for this encounter while Antonio Valencia might start ahead of Diogo Dalot in the right-back position.
Midfield
Mourinho could opt to start with Fred in midfield while Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini might accompany the Brazilian midfielder at the centre of the park. The trio would be up against the Portuguese duo of Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho so it won’t be easy for the United players to dominate the proceedings on Saturday.
Pogba scored a brace in midweek so he would be confident about getting his name on the scoresheet versus Wolves this weekend.
Attack
Jose Mourinho is expected to line up with a frontline of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, and Jesse Lingard. Lukaku has been in excellent form for United in recent weeks after scoring three goals in his last two league starts.
This clash against Wolves could serve as an ideal opportunity for Lingard to showcase his worth and get some confidence back in his play by being productive in the attacking third.
