According to a report by Calciomercato, both Everton and Manchester City are prepared to battle it out for the services of Atlanta United full-back George Bello. It is believed that a whole host of clubs are chasing after the teenager’s signature following his rapid rise through the youth ranks of Atlanta.
At the tender age of 16, Bello has already made his senior debut in the Major League Soccer and has caught the eye with an outstanding cameo in his side’s 3-1 loss to DC United. He has incredible potential which is why so many clubs are looking to snap him up.
Who Is George Bello?
Bello was born in Abuja, Nigeria and graduated from the Atlanta Academy at the start of this year before being sent out on loan to play for the club’s B team in the United Soccer League. He managed to make a total of 5 appearances for them in their fixtures against Charlotte Independence, Penn FC, Louisville City, Charleston and Cincinnati respectively.
The 16-year-old impressed enough to earn a call-up to feature for the Atlanta United senior side and made his competitive debut after coming off the bench in their match against DC United last weekend.
What Will Bello Offer To Everton And Manchester City?
Bello primarily operates as a left-back and is blessed with outstanding pace and technical ability. He has incredible potential and could be considered as one of the brightest prospects in world football. At 16, he still has a lot of time to grow and develop his game.
Everton are looking for a long-term replacement for Leighton Baines and have already snapped up Lucas Digne but signing Bello would be a big statement for the future. On the other hand, Manchester City have built a world-class academy which is brimming with some of the most promising young talents in European football. Hence, recruiting Bello would add even more quality to their academy as they look to build a future star under the watchful eyes of Pep Guardiola.
George Bello: A Future Star?
The 16-year-old has already shown glimpses of his brilliance at such a young age. If he can continue to develop and take his game to another level, there is no doubt that he would be one of the stars of the future. However, remaining in Atlanta United to gain regular first-team experience could help his career in the long-run than joining one of the elites of the Premier League and playing at their youth levels.
