Manchester United finally managed to return to winning ways last weekend with a victory against Burnley at the Turf Moor. The Red Devils relieved some of the mounting pressure after losing back to back matches against Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur. There were a lot of positives to take from their performance against the Clarets which should give Jose Mourinho’s players enough confidence to get their season back on track.
Loads Of Positives On Sunday
The Mancunian giants managed to keep their first clean sheet of the season last weekend which could be a massive step in the right direction. Mourinho had often been left a frustrated figure after his team’s poor performances last month. However, his players finally responded strongly on Sunday which should raise the spirits of everyone associated with the club.
Romelu Lukaku managed to score a brace while operating as a centre-forward against the Clarets defence so United would need him to be fit and firing on all cylinders in the upcoming matches. Even Luke Shaw’s excellent form has been a bright spot of United’s league campaign so far.
Man United Players Are Finally Starting To Deliver
Mourinho’s star players such as Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba, David De Gea and Jesse Lingard are finally starting to perform at their best. Marouane Fellaini’s inclusion in the first-team was also a masterstroke by Mourinho as the big Belgian played his part in securing the points for the away side on Sunday.
The central defensive partnership between Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling worked well against Sean Dyche’s men who offered very little going forward. However, a rare clean sheet will give Lindelof and Smalling a massive push at reigniting their careers at Old Trafford.
Tricky Run Of Fixtures Coming Up
The Red Devils will have a daunting task of visiting Watford after the international break. The Hornets have a 100% winning record in the league this season and also managed to beat Tottenham Hotspur last weekend so it won’t be an easy task for United to come away with a result from Vicarage Road.
Mourinho’s men would also face off against the likes of Young Boys in the Champions League, Derby County in the League Cup which would be sandwiched between a home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers and an away visit to West Ham United.
Verdict
Man United should be confident about getting some favourable results after the international break as their players are slowly starting to gel well and could perform at their best in Mourinho’s senior team over the next few months.
