According to a recent report by the Daily Mail, Aaron Ramsey could be on his way out of Arsenal next summer with his current contract set to run out at the end of this campaign. It is believed that the Welsh international won’t be forced out by the North London club in January despite being made available for a transfer as Ramsey reckons that he might receive better offers next summer.
With the 27-year-old set to become a free-agent soon, the Gunners could witness another one of their first-team stars run out their contracts at the Emirates Stadium before moving on to bigger challenges as evidenced by Alexis Sanchez’s departure at the start of this calendar year.
Unai Emery’s men have made a steady start to their season after initially suffering a setback of losing back to back matches against Manchester City and Chelsea respectively. However, the North London giants have now won six games in a row across all competitions with Ramsey playing his role in their recent success.
The Caerphilly-born midfielder has made seven appearances for the Gunners this season and has two assists to his name. However, he is yet to find the back of the net which would be a cause for concern.
What Does The Welshman Add To Emery’s Team?
The Welsh international is one of Emery’s best creative options in midfield. He works hard for the team and can dribble with the ball and set up his teammates inside the opposition penalty area. Despite not scoring so far this season, Ramsey has proven in the past that he can be a match-winner for Arsenal which has made him such a success at the Emirates Stadium.
Can The Gunners Cope With The Loss Of Ramsey?
The Welsh midfield enforcer might be inconsistent, yet he is still one of Unai Emery’s best players at Arsenal. The Gunners manager needs to find a way to convince Ramsey into penning a new deal with the club or else risk losing him in January on a cut-price fee or in the summer on a free transfer. There is no doubt that him leaving would be a significant loss for Arsenal especially after some of the high-profile departures from the club in recent years.
If the 27-year-old does end up leaving North London at the end of this season then Emery would need to bring in a suitable replacement who will be capable enough to fill Ramsey’s shoes at the Emirates Stadium.
