According to the Daily Star, Manchester United could make a move for the Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele this summer. The 21-year-old French star has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League club Arsenal but as per football finance expert Kieran Maguire, there can be a twist in the tale.
Maguire opined that the young attacker can be a good signing for the Red Devils, who are desperate to add silverware to their trophy cabinet next season. He told Star Sport in an exclusive interview, “The two Manchester clubs who will be interested in him too.
“Mourinho is very unhappy in terms of United’s recruitment so far.
“I think most United fans saw the signing of Fred as solid, but very much treading water.
“If they want something to wet the appetite, then someone like Dembele could do that – and they can certainly afford him.”
Jose Mourinho would not be satisfied with his team’s performance in the pre-season tour of the USA, where they faced defeat at the hands of Liverpool. A player like Dembele can be a very good addition to the side and the Portuguese manager can have the perfect option on his hands to beef up the attack for the next season.
Former Arsenal player Martin Keown is of the opinion that the Gunners will not chase for the signature of the French winger, who has been rated at £100m as they have already spent a significant amount last year in January to bring Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang to the Emirates. He said, “I don’t see it happening. It seems like it’s an absolute fortune for the player. It doesn’t look likely.”

The signs are encouraging enough for Manchester United to pursue Dembele’s signature but it is to be seen whether they go in for him or not.
