Wolves are still looking to secure the services of Paris Saint-Germain wide man Gonçalo Guedes this summer despite his mammoth £53m price-tag. According to recent reports from L’Equipe, as reported by Hitc, the West Midlands side are still eager to seal a move for the explosive Portuguese talent during this summer transfer period.
It was earlier reported that the Ligue 1 ace had his heart set on a move to Valencia after putting in a number of outstanding performances during his loan spell at the Mestalla last season. Guedas had featured in 40 matches for the Spanish outfit in the last campaign, scoring 6 goals while grabbing 11 assists in all competitions.
Some sources are now claiming that Wolves still have a chance to land him in the coming days before the transfer window comes to a close in a few days time. It is understood that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are still interested in snapping him up before the start of the new season.
The same report suggests that Valencia have been priced out of a move which could pave the way for Wolves to move in for the player. However, spending £53m on Guedes will make the Portuguese winger the club’s most expensive player in history which might not be too far-fetched considering how their new Chinese owners have opted to splash the cash so far.
The 21-year-old is still unproven in English football which could be a cause for concern against such a big-money move. The jury is still out whether the PSG wide man can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the English top-flight.
